Picardie (Picardy) is in northeast France and consists of 3 Departments, 02 Aisne, 60 Oise and 80 Somme. The prefecture of the region is Amiens. 

Although Picardie, which is formed from the catchment areas of the rivers Somme, Oise and Aisne, is a mainly rural region there is some industrial activity. The Nord Pas de Calais region is to the north, Champagne Ardennes to the west and to the south is Paris and the Ile de France. 

The Somme estuary is a particularly good place for Bird Watchers with many species of migratory birds making the estuary their temporary home.
